A U.S. Army Private First Class with Charlie Company 2508 Task Force Fury, participating in Operation Mesmar, prepares to help clear an orchard during a dismounted patrol, Feb. 5, 2010, Southern Afghanistan. Canadian Forces 3rd KANDAK 1/205 Corps and the U.S. Army Charlie Company 2508 Task Force Furry worked together mentoring the 3-1/205 Afghan National Army for a successful execution of the operation. The mission objective was to clear several villages and fruit orchards in the southern most half of Terot Kulacha in search of IED’s, weapons caches and illegal drugs.

William Ash, squad leader, 1st Platoon, Bravo Company, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, NATO International Security Assistance Force, along with a stray dog lead a patrol through Helmand Provence, Afghanistan, June 30, 2008. When the platoon moved into the area they found two stray dogs, and each time the Marines head out on patrol the dogs follow, right at the Marines’ side.
