Contest Rules clarified / amended

In response to queries and comments, we have made three clarifications and/or changes to the contest rules.  Thanks to those who highlighted the issues.  To summarize:

1.  By entering the contest, you do not forfeit ownership of your work.  You are still permitted to use YOUR photo any way you wish in the future.  However, by entering the contest, you are granting the Contest Sponsor the right to use your photo as well.  Initially, we post it on the web site for public voting so the contest can run, as well as on our Facebook page and on Flickr.  It’s all about showing the world why Afghanistan matters.  In addition, we reserve the right to distribute contest entries by other means in the future, if we wish to do so.

2.  You can enter the contest as many times as you like.  But remember, the public has to rate your photo highly in order for you to win.  So if you send your best photos, in addition to a whole bunch of not-as-good photos, this will “dilute” the impact of your best work and possibly impact the likelihood of your best work getting enough positive ratings to stand out from the crowd.

3.  Each contestant can only win one prize.  So if your photo wins its category by public vote (a camera valued at about $350) and subsequently is chosen by the panel as the grand prize winner (a camera and lens valued at about $1500), we will give you the better camera.  But the other one will go to the category runner-up.
