From December 2009 to May 2010, NATO’s Joint Forces Command Headquarters Brunssum ran a photo contest on Afghanistan. The contest accepted photos in the four categories shown in the graphic below. Category winners were chosen by public vote, and the overall winner was selected by a panel, from the top 3 in each category.
In the course of the contest, we received an AMAZING 451 photos from 57 contestants in 15 countries – all who wanted to show us “Why Afghanistan Matters” through their lens! These photos received over 30,000 votes from all over the world! Thanks so much for your support!
Each category winner won a Canon Powershot S90 compact camera. The Grand Prize winner won a Nikon D90 DSLR camera plus a Nikon 180-200mm Telephoto Zoom Lens.
We encourage you to check out the prizewinners at this link: The Winners have been announced!
